GypLyner UNIVERSAL wall lining

Metal framed wall lining system

GypLyner UNIVERSAL is a cost-effective, virtually independent metal wall lining system. This system is commonly used where the external wall or substrate is very uneven or out of plumb.

  • Background surface irregularities are accommodated within the framework cavity
  • Provides a solution for backgrounds that are not suitable for bonded systems, for example plasters or DriLyner systems
  • Services are easily incorporated within the framework
  • Wide range of U-values achievable to suit project requirements through our extensive selection of Gyproc ThermaLine laminate board types and thicknesses
  • Minimal thermal bridging of the insulation layer due to the small, discrete fixings back to the substrate
  • Provides a thermally responsive environment with quick heating time as a result of positioning the insulation layer on the warm side of the room
  • Provides a high performance option to achieve enhanced acoustic performance
  • Ideal system for improving a wall’s water vapour resistance through the addition of a Gyproc DUPLEX board option with integrated vapour control membrane
  • Sound insulation airbourne: 49 - 66 (Rw dB)
  • Thermal performance: 0.36 - 0.21 (W/m²K)

How do I acoustically upgrade an existing masonry wall?

Use Gyproc SoundBloc board and Isover insulation within GypLyner IWL or GypLyner UNIVERSAL systems. Selection depends on a number of factors such as type of background, height of lining and performance requirements and board type. Please refer to the relevant sections of the White Book for further information if required.

What backgrounds are in scope for ThistlePro UniFinish?

ThistlePro UniFinish can be used on most commonly encountered backgrounds in re-skimming jobs.

Can I plaster an Artex ceiling?

You could consider the use of Artex Easifix Smooth-It or overboard with suitably installed Gyproc plasterboard ceiling system (such as counter battening with timber or by using GypLyner UNIVERSAL). Alternatively you could consider ThistlePro UniFinish subject to conditions of background. Please refer to WHITE BOOK Chapter 07 Section 02 Page 07 for more details.

Do you recommend plastering over sanded lime backgrounds?

No, we would recommend instead drylining using GypLyner UNIVERSAL. Please refer to WHITE BOOK Chapter 07 Section 04 Page 02 for more details.

How do I dot & dab plasterboard to concrete columns and walls?

Providing the concrete is stable and free of release agents you could consider the use of our DriLyner BASIC system. Some concrete will need pre-treatment with ThistleBond-it applied in bands corresponding to adhesive dab location.

What wall lining systems are available and how would you select the correct type?

We offer a number of wall lining systems including DriLyner, GypLyner UNIVERSAL and GypLyner IWL for a range of applications.

How do you upgrade existing walls thermally?

This can be achieved either externally (EWI) using an insulated render system such as Weber, alternatively this can be achieved internally (IWI) using a frame system (such as our GypLyner UNIVERSAL) comprising of insulation within the cavity or through the use of an insulation backed plasterboard (installed in one of our DriLyner systems). Please refer to WHITE BOOK Chapter 07 Section 01 Page 02 for an overview of our British Gypsum wall linings range.
