Does British Gypsum source timber from Sustainably Managed forests?
As one of the UK’s largest purchasers of pallets, British Gypsum want to set the standard for sustainable and responsibly sourced timber. In 2008 the business made a public commitment that by the end of 2010 all timber would come from registered sustainable sources. British Gypsum has been working in partnership with some of the largest timber suppliers in the UK and 100% of timber now comes from sustainable sources.
By working with suppliers this target was achieved a year in advance of the target. There is continuing work to increase the ratio of pallets returned to British Gypsum for reuse or repair (which reduces the need to create new pallets), and are also taking steps to monitor the sustainability of wood used in the new pallets the business source.
