This short video will demonstrate the methods of connecting the MF5 Ceiling Section, often termed as the “top hat”, to the MF7 section (MF7 Primary Support Channel), which provides the primary support grid for the CasoLine MF ceiling system.
We have two methods of connecting the MF5 to the MF7, with either MF9 Connecting Clips or British Gypsum Wafer Head Jack-Point Screws.
First we’ll look at the MF9 clip. This is simply connected by connecting one side of the clip to the MF5 and then applying inward pressure to the MF5 section to allow the clip to be connected on the opposite side. Take care not to apply too much pressure as this will deform the MF5 section and create a loose connection.
A connection tool can be fabricated out of a short piece of MF7. This can also be used to connect the MF5 to the MF7 as shown here.
The alternative fixing method is to screw fix the MF5 directly to the MF7. Note that a British Gypsum Wafer Head Jack-Point Screw needs to be installed on both sides of the MF5, and to each MF7 section.
Where CasoLine MF ceilings are installed in well-sealed rooms subject to changing pressures (for example, in residential apartments), the screw fixing option is the recommended method of fixing the MF5 to the MF7 primary support grid.
