  • Wallboard enables a speedier installation of walls, partitions and ceilings over traditional construction methods that benefits the DIYer and professional alike.
  • Can be easily fixed to timber and metal partitions by mechanical fixings and to various brick/masonry backgrounds by drywall adhesive
  • Formulated to be easily finished by all thistle plaster products or Thistle jointing materials
  • Plasterboard is good for cutting down noise transmission particularly airborne sounds such as speech and music.
  • Can be installed in single or in multi-layers to increase acoustic and fire performance (for further details see The White book) 
  • Has an ivory paper face for easy identification on site.
  • Available in both tapered edge or square edge finishes to allow different finish requirements. Tapered edge to enable an easy jointing or plaster skim finish, while square edge can be used for textured finishes.

How do you provide a 30 or 60 minute fire-rated horizontal membrane?

For our range of systems fixed to timber joist / bottom chord of trusses to meet 30 or 60 minute fire resistance to BS 476: Part 22 please refer to White Book Chapter 06 Section 06 Page 11 for more details.

What is the fire resistance performance of Gyproc plasterboard? Will I achieve 60 minutes fire resistance from 12.5mm Gyproc FireLine? What fire rating does a Board give? What fire rating does FireLine Board offer?

Fire resistance performance is based on complete systems such as a partition, wall, ceiling membrane or floor, therefore plasterboard cannot be considered on their own in terms of fire resistance.

How do you achieve a fire-rated timber stud partition?

Gyproc 12.5mm WallBoard fixed either side of minimum 63mm x 38mm timber studs at 600mm centres creates a 30 minute fire rated partition to BS476: Part 22. Using different combinations of board and insulation, various system options are available with fire resistances of 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. Please refer to White Book C04 S11 P02 for more details.

What radius do plasterboards achieve?

The minimum bend radius of plasterboard varies depending on board thickness and type. 12.5mm Gyproc WallBoard can be curved to a minimum radius of 3600mm and 15mm to 4800mm for example. 6mm Glasroc F MultiBoard is our best performing board in terms of bending being able to be curved to minimum radius 600mm. Please see White Book Chapter 05 Section 04 Page 03 for further details.

What is the thermal conductivity of Gyproc ThermaLine laminates?

Our Gyproc ThermaLine laminates comprise of plasterboard (thermal conductivity 0.19 W/mK) and rigid foam insulation (thermal conductivity of the foam ranges from 0.02 to 0.04 W/mK depending on type).

What is the density of Gyproc plasterboards?

Circa 600 to 1000kg/m3 depending on board type.

Does water damaged plasterboard need to be replaced?

Generally, yes the board should be removed and replaced with an equivalent Gyproc product to maintain the original performance criteria. This would certainly be the case where boards can be seen to be ‘bowed’, suffering with mould growth or where paper de-lamination has occurred. Other instances such as surface wetting, which may dry out relatively quickly, could still develop water stains or mould requiring remedial treatment/action at a later stage of the project. If the plasterboard has been exposed to contaminates in the water, or where mould growth is present, professional advice should be obtained before proceeding further.

Can Gyproc plasterboard be used around fireplaces and wood burning stoves

Gyproc plasterboard, including Gyproc FireLine, is not suitable for use in temperatures above 49oC.

What is the density of Gyproc plasterboards?

Circa 600 to 1000kg/m3 depending on board type. To calculate the density of the plasterboard, establish the weight per square metre and divide it by its thickness (metres), e.g. 12.5mm Gyproc WallBoard weighs 8kg/m2, divide by 0.0125m = 640kg/m3.

What is the fire resistance performance of Gyproc plasterboard?

Fire resistance performance is generally based on the overall construction, e.g. partition, floor or structural steelwork, and not just the board itself. Please refer to the relevant section of the White Book for further details.

Why is Gyproc plasterboard supplied in 1200mm wide sheets?

Plasterboard generally comes in 1200mm wide sheets as it is designed to suit the standard 600mm stud spacing used in housing today.
