British Gypsum - Gypframe C Stud

Gypframe 48 S 50 'C' Studs

The UltraSTEEL® stud for strong, lightweight installation

Used as the vertical support in wall framing, ‘C’ studs are available in a range of widths, lengths and gauge depending on requirements for strength, height, impact resistance and sound insulation.

Conforming to EN 14195, Gypframe profiles are up to 50% lighter than equivalent timber systems and 70% lighter than blockwork, giving a high strength to weight ratio for guaranteed performance and long life.

The patented UltraSTEEL® process gives the components greater strength, makes fixing easier and improves screw retention and pull-out by up to 20%.

BES 6001

  • Includes sight lines down the legs of the stud to ease board alignment and increase profile strength
  • Structural apertures are spaced along the spine of the Gypframe ‘C’ Stud, providing easy routing of services through a partition.
  • The UltraSTEEL process alters the characteristics of plain steel, providing higher strength capacity at a lighter gauge.
  • Along with an aesthetic difference UltraSTEEL offers an improvement in yield strength, carrying capacity, screw retention and pull out
  • Gypframe offers a resilient construction material – it won’t rot, warp, shrink or twist on site and can cope easily with the elements

How do you extend the length of Gypframe metal stud?

This can be achieved by ‘splicing’ two studs together with an overlap of 600mm minimum, then fixing together using Wafer Head Drywall Screws (two to each flange). Please refer to White Book Chapter 04 Section 01 Page 07 which includes details for Gypframe ‘C’ studs, AcouStuds and ‘I’ studs.

Which partition types provide high acoustic performance with minimum impact to space?

GypWall CLASSIC using Gypframe AcouStuds, GypWall QUIET SF and GypWall STAGGERED are all good options to meet this requirement.

Are Gypframe ‘C’ studs available in fixed lengths only?

No – British Gypsum offers a comprehensive bespoke service for Gypframe metal  profiles, allowing for non-standard lengths to be ordered, subject to manufacturing constraints.

How do you incorporate plywood into metal stud partitions?

Use Gypframe Service Support Plate. You can also refer to the relevant sections of the white book.

How do you increase the height of Gypframe metal stud?

By ‘splicing’ two studs together with an overlap of 600mm minimum, fix together using Wafer Head Drywall Screws (two to each flange)
