British Gypsum customer, CW Solutions Ltd, recognised in international awards

British Gypsum customer, CW Solutions Ltd, has been named as a runner-up in the 10th Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy for its work on Manchester’s Whitworth Art Gallery.

The Saint-Gobain Gypsum International Trophy aims to recognise and reward the craftsmanship of drywall and plastering contractors, as well as promote excellence and innovation in the use of sustainable, lightweight plasterboard systems and plasters.

British Gypsum’s Thistle MultiFinish and Thistle BondingCoat plaster solutions were used by CW Solutions Ltd in a £15 million redevelopment of the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, with the project going on to achieve the runner-up prize in the plaster category at the Trophy awards.

The Whitworth Gallery was transformed with the addition of two new brick and glass wings, as well as a refurbishment of the original 19th Century building, over a two-year period. The plastering work was completed across a 14-month time frame, with more than 4,000 square metres of two coat plaster and specialised plasters used during the project.

The awards ceremony took place at the Zofin Palace in Prague, Czech Republic, on Friday 3rd June 2016, with one judge commenting on the project: “Excellent collaboration between the Saint-Gobain team and the contractor resulted in the installation of an abundance of value-added and technical drywall solutions.”

The Whitworth Art Gallery came second to Werey & Stenger for its work on the Gerstheim Catholic Church in France.
