British Gypsum becomes first manufacturer to join new FIS online one stop skills shop

British Gypsum has become the first manufacturer to be approved as a provider for the Finishes and Interiors Sector Ltd’s (FIS) soon-to-launch training course booking platform, FIS CourseSight.

The platform will make booking approved, online training courses quick and easy, while automatically adding newly achieved qualifications to individual’s CSCS cards.

As one of a select number of training providers working with FIS as an approved provider, British Gypsum will be one of the first to populate the site with its training courses and upskilling programmes.

Dave Hall, Training Partnerships Director at British Gypsum, said: “With up to two-thirds of the existing on site workforce without any official entry level qualification [1], it’s clear that a much greater level of investment in training is needed from the whole industry.

“In response to the Stockerl Review (commissioned by FIS in 2012), in 2015 we decided to partner with four colleges nationally to increase the level of formal routes to training for employers, and help give apprentices the best start in their careers. We also deliver upskilling programmes and training routes to help experienced workers gain NVQ level 2 qualifications.

“Being the first manufacturer to support the new FIS CourseSight platform means we can make formal training like this more easily available – maximising our support for the development of skills in the finishes and interiors sector.”

FIS CourseSight brings together details of courses specific to the finishes and interiors sector, making accessing and booking training quick and easy.  Registered companies can also manage all of their employees’ training requirements through a tailored dashboard system.

In addition, any course outcome that relates to CSCS cardholders gets passed directly to SkillSight™, enabling the information to be surfaced whenever the CSCS card is checked out on site.

FIS CourseSight will launch on 15th August 2016. To find out more, visit:
