New guidance for safe plasterboard installation

COVID-19 - Plasterboard installation guidance from British Gypsum

With COVID-19 continuing to dominate the way we work to observe social distancing measures, British Gypsum has developed new Guidance on handling plasterboard safely. Supporting the reduction of both manual handling and accommodating the new requirements of COVID-19 operating procedures, this practical Guidance enables safe plasterboard installation.

Published this week, the Guidance is supported by a user-friendly animation that can be easily shared amongst site teams and enables installers to quickly adapt their installation method to meet both COVID-19 requirements and complements the Best Practice Guide - Recommendations For The Safe Ingress Of Plasterboard – published recently by the FIS.

Designed as a simple three step process, the Guidance allows for many different on-site situations enabling the installer to modify the installation process based on the individual task and site requirements. The Guidance takes into account the use of mechanical handling systems, where available, and details the safe method of working for both one person and two person tasks.

James Maclean, British Gypsum Training Academy Manager comments: “this Guidance comes at a time when the construction industry is crying out for straight-forward, clear instruction on how construction site productivity can be improved while keeping the workforce safe. Our Guidance demonstrates that requirements of both safe manual handling and COVID-19 can be managed together. Our priority is to work with all customers to ensure they feel confident handling and installing plasterboard.
