Amicus Horizon uses Thistle Magnetic Plaster to create attractive community hub

Social housing provider, Amicus Horizon, has used British Gypsum’s Thistle Magnetic Plaster to transform an empty commercial hub into an attractive community space for its residents.

Amicus Horizon provides affordable housing across London, Kent and Sussex, and approached British Gypsum with a brief to help transform the disused space on the ground floor of one of its apartment blocks into a communal space.

The empty property had been disused for some time and, after hosting a local Neighbourhood Focus Day in the area, Amicus Horizon discovered that residents wanted it to be transformed into a space that the whole community could use. The housing provider called on its supply chain, including British Gypsum, to assist in giving the unit a new lease of life.

British Gypsum donated Thistle Magnetic Plaster for the project, which was used to create an interactive wall where residents can post messages and notices. In addition to providing products, British Gypsum also offered its expertise in drawing up specifications for partitions and linings to be included throughout the space.

The new community hub was officially opened in summer last year and now plays host to community drop in surgeries, as well as providing a space for local entrepreneurs to hot-desk.
