Gareth Dunn, Service Innovation Director, British Gypsum

Gareth is a senior service innovation professional with over fourteen years’ experience across marketing and supply chain management.

Having worked across a variety of departments, from Customer Service, Supply and Operations, through to strategic Marketing, Gareth’s wealth of knowledge of the British Gypsum brand is unparalleled.

Taking on the role of Service Innovation Director in 2020, Gareth is responsible for designing, prototyping and scaling new service-based income streams to complement and enhance uptake of British Gypsum’s product sales. He does this by implementing innovation frameworks that put customer needs at the heart of solution design and embedding toolkits needed for businesses to grow.

As part of his role, he manages the Service and Proposition Development function, including British Gypsum’s national Training Academies, made up of six industry-leading training centres across the country, British Gypsum’s college training partnerships, and the new service development team.

Gareth’s work on the training academies saw him head up the introduction of a new e-learning platform, a brand new prospectus and the redesign of British Gypsum’s training academy facilities.

Furthermore, Gareth leads on establishing partnerships with regional colleges and British Gypsum’s overarching strategy to address the industry wide skills gap - namely with the launch of the Site Ready Skimming Course. The course was designed in response to the construction skills shortage, of which plasters make up a major part of that gap, and aims to help sub-contractors upskill their employees.

Since joining British Gypsum in 2007, Gareth has been involved in customer trials and prototyping of 10+ new products, including leading the design and launch of Thistle Bonding 60. He has also led the launch of British Gypsum’s corporate Purpose and Brand Pillars, for which he achieved Marketer of the Year in 2019 at the annual company conference along with a separate award as part of the team responsible for designing and implementing the companies new leadership development programme.
