One of the new products the Council tried out was Thistle Bonding 60, a revolutionary fast-setting undercoat plaster that has a reduced setting time by as much as two thirds. The new product has all the attributes of the original Thistle BondingCoat plaster but with a much shorter setting time of just 60 minutes, meaning it’s ready to finish in 75 minutes. Ideal for patching deep holes or chases, the product really lends itself to the repair work the Council team frequently do. It also means they can now tackle even more projects in a day due to the faster completion times of these smaller jobs.
We were keen to make sure the team got the maximum benefit from the product so, in addition to the training they received on the day, we also visited the plastering teams on site to give further advice to them on the job.
Rounding off the product training was ThistlePro DuraFinish, a plaster, which is 60 per cent tougher than Thistle MultiFinish. Using this high-performance plaster means the Council can effectively extend maintenance cycles on its buildings, particularly in high traffic communal areas. Not only does this reduce the amount of repair work needed in these buildings, it also offers greater quality interior spaces for tenants.
