Solution
By working closely with the main contractor, British Gypsum were able to calculate that 97.436 tonnes of plasterboard waste was returned in thirty nine 12 yard skips from site to be recycled. British Gypsum delivered 392 tonnes of plasterboard to site, equating to a waste figure of 24.85%. This information enabled the main contractor to manage waste streams more effectively and easily meet Environment Agency regulations on plasterboard waste, which states that plasterboard waste cannot be sent to landfill from 1st April 2009 unless segregated into a landfill monocell. The project achieved a BREEAM rating of Very Good. The support from British Gypsum contributed to 6 BREEAM points being awarded.
