Proposals Revealed for 25 Million Glasgow Affordable Housing Scheme

Date: 09 September 2015

Plans have been submitted for a new £25 million mixed social and affordable housing scheme in the Glasgow district of Anderston.

Designed by Collective Architecture on behalf of Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association, the project will see a mixture of social rent, mid-market rent and shared equity homes, replacing the prefabricated 1960’s residential towers currently occupying the site.

Some 206 properties will be built as part of the scheme. These will be housed in five six- and seven-storey blocks of flats, brick-clad both to reflect the area’s Victorian heritage and blend in with neighbouring developments. The architect firm also proposes reinstating the original Victorian street pattern, as well as providing pedestrian and cycle access into central Anderston. Work is due to begin on the development in January 2016.
