Safe and Secure Solutions for The Harbour

£40m mental health inpatient unit at The Harbour

A range of British Gypsum solutions have been used in a new £40m mental health inpatient unit at The Harbour, Blackpool.

Gilling Dod Architects was challenged to create a safe and secure healthcare unit, which could also promote recovery and independence for patients. The team needed a robust and durable interior that could withstand the general wear and tear of a specialist hospital environment, whilst also meeting acoustic, fire and safety demands.

In the reception areas and corridors of the building, Gyproc DuraLine and GypWall Robust boards were installed to provide a high impact resistance, with a Thistle HardWall basecoat and Thistle MultiFinish skim coat applied to provide a hard-wearing finish.
