Fauld Mine, Staffordshire

Gypsum Mine

British Gypsum's former manufacturing site at Fauld now supplies cement rock, which is a mixture of gypsum and anhydrite, for use by the cement industry.

The site originally opened in the early 19th century and features extensive underground workings.

  • At J28 exit onto A38  A615 Derby/Matlock
  • Exit onto A50 Uttoxeter/Stoke-on-Trent/M1 South**

From the South West

  • Head North West on M1
  • At J24 take A453 Nottingham
  • Take A50**

From the South East

  • North on M5
  • Continue onto M6
  • At J14 take A34/Stone/Stafford
  • Continue onto A51, then A518, then A50**

From the East

  • Take A52 towards Nottingham
  • Follow on to the A50**

From the West

  • Head for and take the A50**

 

** Exit at Sudbury for A515 Lichfield. At roundabout turn left onto Fauld Lane. After approx. 2 miles Fauld site is found on the right
