Energy management

In 2014 we had our energy management system certified to ISO 50001:2011.

This international standard is about implementing and maintaining systems and processes to manage our energy consumption.

At British Gypsum, the key elements in any work we do are our employees. We use various methods, teams and courses to delivery our message.

World class manufacturing is the method by which we manage out factories, so it’s only natural for us to apply these techniques to our energy management. We’re doing this in order to reduce energy consumption per unit of production. We also focus our new product development to deliver solutions with a lower environmental impact across the lifecycle of the product as well as purchasing a zero carbon electricity supply.

Our building energy consumption is managed by the Saint-Gobain Care:4 (Company Actions for the Reduction of Energy by 4) program and as a result, Energy performance Certificates (EPCs) have been completed for 5 of our buildings

We are currently legislated under Greenhouse Gas Emission Trading Scheme Regulations (EU-ETS), CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and the  Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)
