Service Innovation Director, Gareth Dunn, joins panel to discuss key trends driving change

As part of this year’s Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) annual conference, Service Innovation Director, Gareth Dunn, joined the panel of experts to discuss the key trends that are driving change and give his thoughts on how the finishes and interiors sector is and will need to react.

Talking about the impact of labour shortages and how we are supporting our construction partners to help overcome the skills shortage with our site ready skimming course, Gareth was joined by the University of Reading’s Construction Management and Engineering Professor Stuart Green, Build UK’s Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol MBE, Chair of the Interim Industry Competence Committee Jon Vanstone, and Tapper Interiors’ Finance Director, Helen Tapper.

Commenting on the event, Gareth said: “I was delighted to be invited to this year’s FIS conference and speak to like-minded professionals about how the industry can overcome the skills shortage and how we are supporting our construction partners to help combat the industry's skills shortage.

“We’re committed to helping our customers and construction partners build better by upskilling their workforces and giving future generations of drylining and plastering professionals the opportunity to gain further qualifications through our purpose-built training academies and Thistle Partnership training programmes. By sharing our technical know-how and expertise with the next generation, we’re confident that we are taking vital steps to help bridge the skills gap.”

This year’s annual conference was hosted virtually, with five round table and panel events taking place throughout September. Topics discussed included productivity, risk management, innovation and supply chain collaboration.
