Head of Environment at British Gypsum
I started back in 2005 as a cleaner originally but a conversation with the HR Director over a cup of tea one evening changed all that. In my first few years I had a variety of roles, including time in Marketing, Sales and Supply chain. This really helped me understand the breadth of opportunity there is within the business.
My passion has always been the environment. A role came up in 2007 as Environment Advisor, I applied and was successful, and have been in the department ever since. After six years working across our UK operations, I progressed to Sustainability Leader. The Head of Department role became available in 2015, and I saw this as the next step in the evolution of my career.
I take great pride in my work and as a relatively young women it’s been great to feel supported in my career and given the opportunities that I have. If you are willing to commit to the company then you will see that investment and commitment returned.
We are part of a huge group, which offers many great benefits, but one of the best things about our company over others is that we still feel like a small, locally focused place to work, with the emphasis on the personal connections we have with our teams.
