Oakfield Primary School, Rugby

Segment Solution category

Oakfield was the first Sunesis Keynes designed school. The design is intended for reuse as a standard design solution. This is a multi-functional educational project that has been designed using regulation documents. The project has been so successful that subsequently four Sunesis Keynes schools have been completed around the country with more under construction.

The classroom areas were designed with durability, sound insulation and fire performance in mind. The ceilings were specified for aesthetics, sound absorption and light reflection. The stability of the high partitions was achieved with specification changes whilst using the same materials. The corridor walls were also designed to work with all services, supporting them at a high level and allowing trades to work together in the installation. The external walls were thermally engineered with both British Gypsum and Weber Renders being used as a solution.
