Frequently asked question

Are timber sole plates required?

Timber sole plates are not an integral part of our British Gypsum metal stud partitions but they should be used if the floor is uneven to allow the Gypframe metal channels to sit flat. If this is the case, the sole plate should be 38mm thick timber equal to the width of the Gypframe metal channel being used. Sole plates may also be specified for additional fixing/installation criteria. Refer to WHITE BOOK Chapter 04 Section 02 Page 27 for more details.
