Main Focus
The main focus was to provide a 25 metre radius elliptical
bulkhead detail in the atriums which would be eye-catching, and
would provide 2 hours fire protection.
Challenge
The challenge was to provide a construction which from the
customers viewpoint was attractive, whilst still providing 2 hour
fire resistance from either side.
Solution
The solution was to construct a metal framework using ShaftWall
components lined with Gyproc CoreBoard on the hidden faces, with 3
layers of 6mm Glasroc MultiBoard to form the elliptical profiles.
The ShaftWall provided the fire rated element of the wall, while
the 6mm Glasroc MultiBoard layers created the aesthetic feature.
Jointing and finishing had to be to a very high standard, and the
setting-out for the Gyproc Styletrim was extremely exacting. The
rebate detail used Gyproc Styletrims to provide a clean, sharp
edge.
