Main Focus
The main focus of this project was to provide an eye-catching
atrium lining feature at high level, which provided acoustic
correction within large glazed malls.
Challenge
The challenge was to design a lightweight framework which would
allow the fixing of Arteco Gyptone boards, in association with
Gyproc WallBoard, to create panels of 1200mm and 1500mm
respectively with a recess feature forming a panelling effect. An
additional requirement was to provide an elliptical bulkhead detail
which maintained the fire integrity of the structure.
Solution
The solution was to construct a vertical framework comprising a
primary grid of Gypframe 92 I 90 'I' Studs at 600mm centres counter
battened with Gypframe MF5 Ceiling Sections forming the support for
the Gyptone boards creating the feature of a recessed joint.
Other systems used on the contract were ShaftWall to form
fire-rated service rooms, and the FireCase frameless Glasroc board
encasement system for fire protection of structural steel
