Park Grove Junior School

Main Focus

The main focus of the project was a complete renovation, following a disastrous fire at the school that completely destroyed the roof and caused smoke-related damage to the interior.

Challenge

The challenge was to address the most complex element of the repair and rebuild the ceiling of the main hall. This ceiling features a span of 30 metres, with a 4.9 metre radius, and five arched windows cut out of each side. The ceiling was vaulted, similar to that of a church, making it a complicated shape to recreate.

Solution

To erect a framework using a CasoLine MF suspended ceiling system fixed to the soffit, using strap hangars. This framework was then lined out, using Glasroc MultiBoard and Gyproc WallBoard.

Glasroc MultiBoard was an ideal choice to recreate the curvature of the ceiling, due to its inherent flexibility.

British Gypsum provided a full specification, together with CAD drawings for the ceiling, which was particularly valuable in areas around the windows reveals.
