Main Focus
The main focus of the project was to erect partitions to
the centre of house area, including staging and changing rooms,
plus miles of public access and service corridors, involving
something in the order of 300,000m2 of board.
Challenge
The challenge was to erect metal stud partition walls to
resist wind pressure loads of 3 to 5m per second, provide
durability in high traffic areas and one hour's fire resistance in
the busiest area. There were also great demands on the
sub-contractor to work in a high-pressure environment to extremely
tight deadlines in order to avoid delay to following service
trades.
Solution
The solution was to use GypWall ROBUST and Gypframe 48mm 'I' Studs
lined with 13mm Gyproc DuraLine. To demonstrate the effectiveness
of this system, a complete wall section was erected at British
Gypsum's Building Test Centre. Architects were able to observe a
series of performance tests that proved the system not only met,
but surpassed all the required criteria - thus justifying its use
throughout the entire complex.
