Main Focus
The main focus of the project was to provide partitions of
integrity in this new department store. Debenhams are the largest
tenant of this new retail centre located in a City Centre
development which replaces a sixties eyesore.
Challenge
The challenge was to provide partitions of
integrity to replace blockwork. Three hour fire walls were required
to separate compartments within the store and, in addition,
partitions with a requirement to carry loadings of fitted
merchandising stands were also specified.
Solution
The solution for the fire wall was to erect a GypWall framework
lined with two layers of 15mm Glasroc FireCase S, with 90mm rock
mineral wool in the cavity. Gypframe 92 I 90 'I' Studs, lined with
standard Gyproc WallBoard provided severe duty partitions with the
strength required to carry loads associated with merchandise
stands.
