Acoustic
Today’s lifestyle is resulting in ever increasing levels of
noise. As our comfort expectations rise, however, we are becoming
less tolerant to unwanted noise, making high levels of acoustic
insulation a fundamental requirement for modern building
practices.
- Part E
- Part E refers to Approved Document E of the
national Building Regulations, which provides guidance on how to
provide reasonable standards of sound insulation in dwellings and
other residential buildings.
- Part
H (Section 5) - Scotland
- In Scotland, Section 5 is the approved
document covering the resistance to the transmission of sound.
- BB 93
DfES - Scotland
- Building Bulletin 93 contains acoustic
design requirements for sound insulation between spaces, ambient
noise levels and optimum reverberation times for various spaces
within educational buildings.
- HTM 08-01
- Health and Technical Memorandum 08-01
contains a method of determining the level of sound insulation
required between adjacent spaces in a healthcare environment.
- HTM 56
- Health and Technical Memorandum 56 contains
an alternative method to HTM 2045 for the specification of acoustic
partitions in healthcare environments, with other design
considerations.
