Plaster and plasterboard plant
This long established plant has manufactured Thistle plasters
continuously since 1910. The production of plasterboard is a
comparatively recent development, the first line being installed
during the 1960's.
Directions
From M6
- Exit the motorway at junction 40 (signed to Penrith and
A66)
- Join the A66 towards Penrith
- Go straight over the next roundabout
- Follow the A66 for approximately 8 miles to Kirkby Thore
- Turn left at the Bridge End Inn, in the direction of Kirkby
Thore village
- Then take the third left hand turn (signed "British Gypsum
Works")
From A1 Northbound
- Follow the A1 northbound
- Exit the A1 at Scotch Corner
- Join the A66 towards Appleby-in-Westmorland
- Approximately 4 miles beyond Appleby-in-Westmorland (Bridge End
Inn on the right hand side), turn right in the direction of Kirkby
Thore village
- Take the third left hand turn (signed "British Gypsum
Works")
By Train
- The nearest mainline stations are Appleby-in-Westmorland or
Penrith.
- Taxis are available outside both stations.
